Yummy TUMMY !!!

Occasions change, the menu changes, time passes by, our favourite cuisine changes. But the same old dusty streets of Kolkata and those amazing street foods remain constant throughout the revolutions.

'Kolkata- The City of Joy' is a heaven for foodies, especially because of its joysome Street foods. Kolkata street food offers a diversity of delightful flavours, from spicy tarts to sweet treats, you would never be disappointed with this wide collection of Street foods in Kolkata.

In our previous blog we tried to showcase some North Indian Street foods, so this time we thought of bringing some Southern twists in the foodwalk, especially for vegetarians!

Whenever we think of street-eating, we come up with ideas of fun, food and Adda. So, here we are back again with all these ideas in mind, with an authentic South Indian joint named
CHETTY'S CORNER.

LOCATION : Justice Chandramahadeb Road, Sreepally, Bhowanipore

OPENING HOURS : 11AM - 10PM

AVERAGE COST : 200 for two

Chetty's Corner was started in the year 1997 by two brothers, Vinor Kumar and Anil Kumar, with their one-of-a-kind fast food joint at Seshadripuram, Bangalore.

People always want something new and unusual in life to make life fun and interesting, so with this aim in mind last year Chetty's Corner extended their routes in Kolkata and has now been the 'new sensation' of the city.

The menu contains some traditional recipes, some modern items with South Indian twists and also some specials which will surely give you cravings.

🔸NIPPAT CHEESE

The very first attraction of the corner is the Nippat Cheese. Nippat is an age old traditional recipe passed on by grandmothers. It is one of a kind, made only in Bangalore and delivered here. It is a crisp crunchy and a quick to make savory item made of rice flour. This Nippat is served with a layer of grinded cheese and ketchup which together will make a burst of flavours in your mouth.

         POCKET PINCH: 55/-
BLOGGER'S OPINION: A Nippat Cheese can surely keep your sadness away :-)

🔸MIXED VEG BABYCORN GRILLED SANDWICH

The very next treat that will make your mood better is the Mixed Veg Babycorn Grilled Sandwich. The simple mixture of babycorn, chillies, capsicum, onions, tomatoes and some homemade masala together, made an ordinary appetizer to an extraordinary street-treat!

         POCKET PINCH: 80/-
BLOGGER'S OPINION: If vegetables are not your favourites, then after having this, they
                                                 will become likeable for you!

🔸CHEESE CAPSICUM PIZZA

Another very common yet delicious name on the list is the Cheese Capsicum Pizza. This is a simple pan fried pizza with a mixture of capsicum and meslted cheese, over which another layer of grinded cheese is served. If somebody asks, what is so special about this? Honestly, nothing special, nothing new either but that first bite can create magic around you.

          POCKET PINCH: 75/-
BLOGGER'S OPINION: One bite and you will feel you are no more a muggle ;-)

🔸CHETTY'S SPECIAL GOLD COIN

And finally the Chetty's Special Gold Coin. This is an ordinary disk shaped bread piece topped with few ingredients. What's so special about it then? Well, the speciality lies in its taste. One food, but will experience a food Mela in it which includes all kinds of flavours from spicy to sour, from sweet to plain, everything!

         POCKET PINCH: 75/-
         BLOGGER'S OPINION: It's a 5minutes party in the mouth

BLOGGER'S REVIEW :

Very very pocket friendly indeed. Well impressed me a lot by the taste, presentation, ambience, hospitality and the introductory prices. The Bangalore based fast food joint is the new sensation in Kolkata. It has brought completely a new rendition to the definition of fast food. From potato rings put in skews an bathed in spices and herbs to burgers with a twist, their menu has a touch of exclusivity to it.

Hopefully you liked the information above and you will be visiting this tiny joint soon, as anything you pick from the menu will be light on the pocket but heavy on the appetite !!

UNINHIBITED SUMMER !!

SUMMER... Summer for me is a state of mind, every summer has it's own story. It's summer ! Be free and happy and danceful and uninhibited and now ... Since childhood I have always felt that, Summertime is always the best of what might be. As they say, ' The tans will fade but the memories will last forever '. So as Summer is upon us, I have opted an outfit for myself that would keep me all cool and comfortable out in a sunny sunny day. I have teamed up  BROWN KNITTED TOP with long sleeves, with a CLASSIC DENIM MINI SKIRT.  🔸The BROWN KNITTED TOP  I am wearing, well nothing can be more comfortable than long sleeves in this season. Long sleeves not only gives us a funky look but also protects us from the tan and the heat. If I have a day planned out in the sun, I very much prefer long sleeves. Long sleeve tops are wadrobe essentials for summer. Long and volume sleeves give you a boxy and smart look. BRAND : FOREVER 21 MATERIAL : Cotton FOREV...

Peeping HOT!

Winter tales No matter, how many sweaters, we had pulled out from our trunk, winter dumped us again. However, few things are there which can never cheat on Bengalis! One such is our love for "গরম গরম কচুরি " Kachoris are basically a deep fried puffy and flaky bread loved by most of the Indians. This spicy North Indian dish is stuffed with anything ranging from, pulses ( dal ), peas, dried mango ( amchur ) or just spices! We Bengalis love to tear burst the peeping hot bread, fold it, scoop in some runny potatoes or sweetened daal and yummy!                talking of the places Bengalis have trusted for their kachoris since ages, our first mention would be this. featuring : Sharma Tea House This super crowded busy  snack station lies in the heart of Bhawanipore, pouring down every moment with more crowd, clustering with their plates of essentials ( KACHORI, POTATO CURRY, SAMOSAS). A few showed up with p...
