The 42nd edition of the International Kolkata Book Fair is here to woo the book lovers. The inauguration took place on 30th January by Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee and France's Minister of Culture and Communication, Francoise Nyssen. Apart from the book fair, the 5th edition of Kolkata Literature Festival 2018, is an integral part of IKBF 2018. It is organized by Publishers and Bookseller's Guild. Publishers and participants from across the world are attending the IKBF 2018.
Authors from Russia, Colombia, Spain, Scotland, Australia, France, USA, Bangladesh are participating in different interactive sessions.
About 580 stalls and 200 little magazines are participating in the book fair.
THEME COUNTRY : FRANCE
The focal theme of IKBF 2018 is France. This is France's third appearance as partner country in the IKBF 2018.
BONJOUR INDIA FESTIVAL
This year on the occasion of 70th year of Indo-France diplomatic relationship, the cultural wing of the French Embassy is organizing the Bonjour India Festival in selected cities of India. The Bonjour India Festival has started in Jaipur and it's closing ceremony will be held at the 42nd IKBF.
Bonjour India - The Experience : A digital journey with France | IKBF 2018
The Experience is a 400sq.m large exhibition presenting 40 acres of creative and innovative cooperation between India and France - past, present and future! The pavilion is divided into 3 interlinked tents inspired by the three key words of Bonjour India :
Creativity, Innovation and Partnership.
The immersive journey, the first of it's kind in India, celebrates the breadth and depth of the relationship between India and France in a way it has never been told before - from technology to culture, from yesterday to tomorrow.
Firmly anchored in a variety of domains, the French links with India are largely unknown and sharply under-estimated. Thr Experience brings them to the fore, highlighting Indo-French collaborations between artists, writers and thinkers, but also in areas like energy, environment, urbanism and space, in a fully intuitive, experimental way.
It showcases the strength of our present partnerships, unveiling what France and India have in common, and shows the way to creative involvement in the future - not only in terms of economic and trade alliances, but also through people-to-people exchanges. It's innovative and interactive scenography will transform a long and rich story into a dynamic journey.
It is always a mesmerizing experience to walk through the book fair every year. For me, books are a uniquely portable magic. We lose ourselves in books, we find ourselves too. Books give me an escape from reality. Reading a good book is like taking a journey into the world of unknown. So this year i treated myself with these babies,
